Privacy policy
!important collects no data. Your styles stay on your Mac.
What !important does not do
- It has no account and no sign-in.
- It sends nothing to me or to anyone else: no analytics, no crash reports, no usage statistics.
- It shows no ads and does not track you across websites.
What stays on your Mac
Your styles – their names, rules, CSS and settings – are kept in Safari’s storage for the extension on your Mac, together with your language choice and the time of the last update check. A backup file is saved only when you ask for one, wherever you choose.
Websites you allow
Safari asks you before !important may work on a site, and you can change that at any time in Safari › Settings › Websites. On the sites you allow, !important adds your styles to the page and, when you use it, lets you pick an element to hide. It reads the page only for that, on your Mac; nothing from the page is stored or sent anywhere.
When !important uses the network
Only in two cases, and only to the address of a style you chose:
- when you import a style from a link, it downloads that file;
- once a day it checks the styles you imported for new versions, at the same addresses.
Those servers see an ordinary request, as when you open the address in Safari. Nothing about you or your other styles goes with it. The app window itself connects nowhere.
Changes
If a future version changes any of this – for example syncing your styles through your own iCloud – this page will say so before that version is released.
