important
Your own CSS for any website in Safari.
!important changes how websites look in Safari on the Mac. Write your own CSS or import a style from a link, and it applies every time you visit the site – a darker theme, a calmer layout, or simply without the bits that get in the way.
What it does
- Your style wins. !important puts your CSS last in the cascade, so it beats the site’s own styles, even ones the page loads later.
- On top or instead. Layer your style over the site, or switch the site’s stylesheets off and replace them. One click in the toolbar menu.
- Hide anything. Point at an element on the page and hide it for good. !important picks a selector that survives the site’s updates.
- Import with updates. Paste a link to a .css or UserCSS file and !important keeps it up to date.
- Rules that fit. A site with its subdomains, any domain containing a word, a path, a regular expression, or
@-moz-documentblocks. - Groups. Keep the variants of a theme together: turning one on turns the others off.
- Ready to try. Example styles, and a page to try them on.
Private by design
Your styles stay on your Mac. Safari asks you before !important may touch a site, and the app collects nothing. Privacy policy
